When it comes to weight loss and getting in shape there are a billion diets, pills, powders, potions, and ideas. The fact is we have been making it more complicated than it ever needed to be.

How do you achieve something?

Find someone who has what you want and mimic their steps to get there.

It really is that simple.

In looking around the most in-shape people are bodybuilders (hence the name). I have watched how they do it. I am married to a men’s physique NPC multi-contest winner who is going for his Pro card to become a professional IFBB bodybuilder this July.

I have seen him transform himself, though I wasn’t there from the very beginning and the pictures still astound me. He has transformed himself from 136 lbs. as someone who smoked and drank, to a non-drinker nonsmoker who weighs in at 186 and looks like a good 200.

Ok, you are thinking – That sure isn’t weight loss

Correct – but I have also worked out with and am friends with women’s bodybuilding professionals. I’ve seen what they do, what they eat, and how they work out, and the body transformations that go with it.

The thing is – anyone can do this if they are dedicated enough to themselves and the results they wish to achieve.

So, once I got my own health stabilized and in order – this past January I hired a coach myself. It seems silly to think a grown adult needs someone to tell them what and how to eat. But the truth is that it helps.

Since my peak weight, I have lost 27 lbs. and though I originally thought I was out to lose just 20, I see now how my body is becoming a better stronger sleeker version of itself. I am no longer stuck on a number but how I look, how I feel, and how my clothes fit. They are now falling off of me and I need a new wardrobe.

With doing a bodybuilding diet – I have not been hungry once. This goes against everything I have ever been taught about dieting. It’s more food than I want to eat daily to this day. I eat 5x a day. I do cardio 5x a week and strength training 6 days a week. I won’t kid you. It is a lot on your body, especially at first. But change of any kind is never easy and once you realize you aren’t wasting time and actually see and feel results, it’s motivating.

It’s time to stop “Dieting”

Depriving yourself only slows your metabolism down more. Less food can make you fatter!

Read that again because it’s totally counterintuitive to our culture.
